Fender’s 5E3 circuit achieved legendary status for its dirty overdriven tone, and this April 1960 5E3 Deluxe has the dirty tweed to match. The stains and wear on the covering leave no doubt that the tweed is original!
The original Triad power transformer is stamped with part number 6452-E and the original Schumacher 125A1A output transformer dates to the 10th week of 1960. South Florida Speaker Repair freshly reconed the blue frame Jensen P12Q speaker stamped with a date code from the 5th week of 1960. The RCA rectifier tube dates to the 9th week of 1960, the power tubes are Russian Tung-Sol 6V6GT, and the output tubes are modern replacements.
Routine maintenance work included a grounded 3 prong plug (gray in color to match the original) and replacing some capacitors inside their original cardboard sleeves. Several other caps had been previously replaced, so our amp tech put them in some surplus vintage cardboard sleeves from the parts box to improve the look with the back panel off. The torn leather handle has been replaced with a custom made replica. Includes the worn and tattered cover.
The work is done and this vintage Deluxe is ready to perform. You’ll take inspiration from the look and the sound every time you plug in.
