Never played it, I'm the only owner, I purchased it brand new directly from a Roland dealer in Los Angeles in 2024. These were my first drums, so I had no pedals, throne, sticks, Superior Drummer 3, etc. I had to spend months researching and buying all of that, and by the time I was done, my excitement had vanished.

The kit was unpacked and partly assembled at my place in Santa Monica, but it was never played. However, I live by the beach, so there can be signs of the coastal climate.

Important: This kit is better than the standard VAD507 kits you see around. It is upgraded because I’m a gear geek and only want the best of the best for myself:

  1. 1. I immediately got rid of the single-sensor 10-inch pad called the PDA100-MS, which is known for hot-spotting which drummers seem to hate. I upgraded it to a brand-new 12-inch, three-sensor VAD pad called the PDA120L. It is also slimmer, so it fits nicely over the kick, which is how my favorite band, MUSE, positions it. This new 12-inch VAD pad is actually the same model Roland uses as the snare in the VAD307 series. It uses the same analog input, but it is larger and has no hot-spotting. The second 12-inch pad (VAD 507 PDA12-MS) has three sensors, so that just was this PDA100-MS as the odd one with just one sensor, no idea why Roland keeps using them.
  2. 2. The kit is the latest generation, which was released only in late 2024. I believe it is called the VAD507-2. I know this because I waited several months for it to be manufactured and delivered after fully prepaying the entire amount. I don’t know exactly what Roland changed, but all the VAD507 and VAD504 kits I saw being sold in California in 2024 were first-generation models. This is the second generation.

This kit includes:

2× Roland DCS-30 Combination Cymbal/Tom Stands ($307 each at Sweetwater)
1× Roland DBS-30 Boom Stand ($226 at Sweetwater)

— Updated TD-27 Version 2 sound module with enhanced features and advanced Prismatic Sound Modeling derived from the flagship TD-50X. It has three digital inputs, which is three times as many as the current Roland V31, which has only one.
— 14-inch PD-140DS digital snare
— 12-inch VH-14D digital hi-hat
— 18-inch CY-18DR digital ride cymbal
— 12-inch PDA120-MS rack tom
— 14-inch PDA140F-MS floor tom
— 20-inch KD-200-MS kick
— 14-inch CY-14C-T crash (“T” stands for “Thin,” Roland’s latest technology)
— Please note, I don't have the 16-inch CY-16R-T additional crash/ride, but it's just $199 at Guitar Center.

This is a great deal. If it doesn’t sell quickly, I’ll keep it!
