Vintage BBC Glensound 4 Channel Mic Pre Mixer with Amperon Transformers and Analog Limiter Compressor Individual Outs !

Well ... this guy's a sleeper! Vintage BBC Glensound GSL4 4 channel mixer / preamp built (like a tank) for outside broadcast. Each of the 4 channels is switchable between line (for mixing or busses) and mic and each has the amazing Amperon A127XA transformers at the input. These preamps are known as the poor man's API as they're fast and have a beautiful tone - you can hear that on the acoustic guitar halfway through - no harshness - and sweet clarity. Built for vocals so they don't like plosives such as kick or snare - but for everything else they're magic. This particular desk has been modded for individual outs - so you get 4 channels of tip top mic preamp to play with. There's also a sublime limiter you can switch in at the mix output - this cleans up the bottom end and smooths out transients while adding clarity - it's broadcast quality so will enhance anything you run through it - listen to take 2 of the guitar, tambourine and maraccas. Take 3 of the guitar and tambourine I pushed hard into it to show what it can do. Pretty amazing. The first part of the video is clean audio - then I ran the mix through channels one and two on the bus - setting 1 is lighter but still gels and enhances space and transients - setting 2 does that but more! You push into the transformers using the gain knobs. Next I ran the bass through channels 1 and 2 and drums through channels 3 and 4 - more analog gorgeousness - the mix is more cohesive, transients more up front and it's more harmonically pleasing. Last shot shows saturation over time on the video audio. He's a beauty - runs on 240 volts - all the way to Audio nirvana!
