This 1963 Silvertone Model 1483 is a "piggyback" tube amplifier manufactured by Danelectro for Sears. Though originally marketed and sold as a bass amplifier, it has become highly prized by electric guitarists as well for its warm, gritty tube overdrive, natural tube compression, and unique tonal character.

Performance & Tonal Character
- For Guitar: It behaves similarly to a classic Fender Bassman. When cranked, the lower wattage combined with the 15-inch speaker delivers a massive, punchy mid-range, rich low end, and smooth, early breakup. It has been utilized by prominent artists such as Jack White, Beck, Vampire Weekend, and R.E.M..
- For Bass: True to its era, it saturates very quickly when pushed with a bass guitar. It lacks the clean headroom and extreme low-frequency clarity required for modern high-wattage bass performance, but excels at vintage, tube-driven garage rock and blues bass tracking in the studio
