An oddball that ended up working out
Got this cymbal from my old drum shop where I got most of my cracked pies, and was curious about how I could repair it. It was a three point fracture in the center of the cymbal so I didn’t know what to expect, worst case scenario I make a chime out of the bell and use the leftover bronze for my hihat stackers.
However after cutting out the crack and adding back the rivets, I was surprised how much life was left in this one!
A decently dark ride with a solid bell, now a little drier, sporting a woody stick sound and a swooping crash that wakes up slowly and lingers on for a bit. The alien foot-shaped hole still holds strong 2 years later, and gives this cymbal a unique character. Great Jazz ride!
Repairs done by yours truly!
