Introducing the Golden Age Comp2a Modification Service.

Here is a 2a clone with a different approach to the classic compressor by putting it into a half rack space. The design is solid with a good vibe from the transformers but lacks some of the character one would expect of a 2a clone.

About the Modifications:

We do a complete audio path upgrade using premium parts for lower noise and higher headroom as well as lower distortion. This includes all power supply caps and audio capacitors. We also replace both 12ax7 tubes with Mullard tubes for added warmth and a more vintage character.

All Audio caps are swapped out for better performance using Orange Drop Capacitors (Poly film capacitors) in the audio path for more authenticity.

Values of other capacitors are adjusted throughout for the best possible audio response, warmth and lowest noise.

Bypassing is performed where necessary for lower noise in the power supply and certain values are adjusted to more closely reflect the original design.

Power supply modifications are also performed for the lowest possible noise figures in the overall design and better current delivery.

Tubes are then swapped for Lower noise, higher headroom more complimentary versions in the design.

The output volume control is replaced with a low noise conductive plastic part.

The results are a very nice sounding LA2A clone that won’t break the bank and puts a professional compressor in your rack for daily tracking and mixing applications.
