Friedman Smallbox 50 — Modded by Dave, Excellent Condition
This Smallbox has had light use in my home studio and was professionally re-tubed and modded by Dave Friedman in 2022, including his SAT mod on a push/pull pot (channel 2 gain).
SAT off: huge, dynamic tone — glassy high-headroom cleans up through medium/high gain crunch. Takes pedals beautifully at any gain or volume, and the effects loop handles all your reverb/delay needs.
SAT on: more JCM800 in character — added gain, compression, and a scooped midrange. This is where the amp turns into a gain monster for any style. And despite being 50 watts, it punches like a 100w head — perfect for palm-muted punk and metal riffs.
