D. Kowalski Dark Gene Green (JCM 800-Style) 1/2W Amp Head with Pelican Case

For sale is a D. Kowalski Dark Gene 1/2 Watt amp. This is the Green version, so it is basically a mini JCM 800 that can directly power a speaker cab or be used as an overdrive pedal into the front of another amp. I have been running this directly into a 1x12 cab with a Greenback and it sounds huge for half a watt - not going to keep up with a drummer, but definitely can get loud enough to upset your neighbors if you're in an apartment. After I got it, I took it to my local guitar store for the owner to check out and he immediately plugged it into a Marshall 4x12, which it powered with no issues. Never tried it as an overdrive pedal. Moving this along as I haven't really played it since I picked up a Suhr SL15 a few months ago. Everything is working great and it was never gigged. Only issue I ever had was that the original 12AX7 it came with in V1 was selected for its high gain and it got a bit squeally when you really cranked the gain and master volume. I replaced it with a lower gain 12AX7 I had laying around and haven't had any more squeals - I will ship this with the lower gain tub installed, but will include the original higher gain tube as well.

Here is where I may lose some people, but... when I took the Dark Gene to my local guitar store, I didn't want it to get bumped around in the car, so I put it in a Pelican 1300 case I had sitting around. It fit so well, that I've just kept it in there ever since. I don't want this to get damaged in shipping and the original box is just a plain white cardboard box that was filled with bubble wrap, so I'm just going to ship this in the Pelican case. In addition, I have some special cut foam that fits the Pelican 1300 for storing watches, pens, etc. A lot of guys I know who are into guitars are also into EDC, so I thought I'd include that as well (case, foam, and extra tube currently cost over $150 to buy new).

So, for this price you get the Dark Gene Green, the IEC power cable, the original high gain 12AX7 tube, the lower gain replacement tube, the Pelican 1300 case, and the EDC foam. Feel free to contact me with questions or for more pictures.
