Under the hood, this is a standard 550a, NOT a Saul Walker hand-wired 50th anniversary edition, it’s just gold (which is sick). Basically, if 550a’s were Cadillacs, this one will pull up to the stoplight with spinners. Won’t go any faster, but it looks way cooler!

This is actually a super rare EQ because from what I’ve gathered from forums and one other previous listing on Reverb, it’s 1 of 4 from a custom order that someone had made when buying "The Box" straight from API. So API never had a release of standard 550a’s with a gold faceplate.
I haven’t reached out to API directly about this specific serial, but the one other previous listing I found that sold, did and my serial number was only a few digits off from theirs. However, when I purchased it, it did come in one of their 50th anniversary literal lunchboxes that they only gave out with the anniversary editions so I’ll throw that in there!

I love this thing and don’t really want to part ways with it but, my studio work has been picking up a good amount and there are other essential workhorse pieces of gear that would be more beneficial for me to get from selling this.

That being said, I’m open to Offers and "you buy my gear I buy yours" arrangements that are Reverb approved :)
