This is a genuine Fender (not a Squier-branded guitar) from the short-lived "Squier Series" line made in Mexico (MIM). These were positioned as a step above regular Squiers but more affordable than the Standard series, they featured a distinctive black headstock logo and are sought-after by players who know the story.
It dates to 1995, right around the time of the major fire at Fender's Ensenada, Mexico plant (1994). During that period, Fender shipped bodies and necks (cut in the USA) down to Mexico for final finishing, painting, and assembly to keep production moving. Many collectors and players believe this gives these guitars a slight edge in feel and quality compared to standard MIMs from the era.
Great player's guitar with solid tone, comfortable neck, and classic Strat versatility.
Check out my other listing too! Pretty much everything I have is well below market, I’m just trying to fund a lift kit for my Subaru tbh 😂
