F. Loree "AK" Oboe 1998 - MI series - fully adjusted and repaired

This is a professional grenadilla F. Loree oboe from 1998. A beautiful "AK" bore MI-series oboe will full-conservatory keywork, including 3rd octave key, low Bb resonance, left-hand F key, and all trills. Comes with the upgraded adjustable Loree thumb rest as pictured.

This oboe just underwent a 4-hour servicing to include new tenon corks, new cork pads as needed, new cork key pads as needed, full cleaning and adjustment, oiling of bore and play testing. No cracks! The wood is in excellent condition with minimal signs of use. The keys move freely and pads seal properly. There is minor tarnish in some areas as expected of an oboe of this age, but overall this oboe looks much newer than its birthdate would otherwise suggest!

The AK bore is Loree's slightly narrower bore (compared with the Standard, DM, & Royal models), resulting in a very free-blowing oboe with excellent projection: The consummate orchestral oboe! Intonation is spot-on throughout the range of the instrument, and the third octave in particular is effortless to produce and remains in tune (whereas many other professional oboes tend to go sharp above high C).

The weight of this oboe is 708 grams, putting it on the slightly lighter side due to its narrower bore. This leads to increased comfort during extended playing periods.

This would be an absolutely fantastic oboe for an advancing student or adult amateur who is in need of a full conservatory instrument at a very attractive price. Comes with the original F. Loree, Cavallaro case cover with strap, F. Loree cork grease container (new and unused) and two wood Loree tenon caps, all as shown.
