Rainger FX Binary Pulsar – Stereo sidechainer, panner and tremolo with correctible tap tempo

Stereo sidechainer/panner/tremolo · Based on Deep Space Pulsar · Dips, pulses, chops and sweeps · Wide control · Resonant filter · Distortion/flanging · Warm analog circuit · CV/gate · Mic trigger · 9V 165mA

The Rainger FX Binary Pulsar is the expanded stereo evolution of the discontinued Deep Space Pulsar: a sidechainer, panner and tremolo pedal built for huge rhythmic dips, pulses, chops, sweeps and stereo movement. It is not a conventional tremolo or simple autopan; it is a dynamic movement tool for guitar, bass, synths, drum machines, studio use and live performance.

In terms of sonic territory, the Binary Pulsar sits among sidechain tremolos, stereo panners, slicers and rhythmic ducking effects, but with Rainger FX’s unmistakably weird and performance-driven approach. It can act as an extreme stereo tremolo, a swingy panner, a studio-style sidechain effect under your foot, a rhythmic chopper, or a synthetic pulse machine with resonant filtering and distortion.

The pedal is fully digital, but includes a switchable analog Warm circuit designed to make the effect feel less clinical: it adds a gentle overdrive, rolls off some top end and slightly boosts the mids. That small analog layer helps a very experimental pedal sit more musically in a mix.

The movement section is the heart of Binary Pulsar. The Wide control delays the right side, turning a simple dip into a much larger stereo effect; at higher settings it can double up dips and create a swing feel. The Res control adds synthy squelch, while the INV and ½ INV switches flip the pulse behavior and create massive stereo effects.

Tempo can be controlled in several ways: internal tap tempo, CV/gate from a modular setup, Rainger FX Snare Trap, drum machine trigger, or even an external microphone placed near a kick drum or other sharp-attack source. The tap tempo is also correctible: if you are manually syncing to an external track or DJ and it starts drifting, you can tap once to pull it back without restarting everything.

There is also a distortion/flanging section with its own level control. It can be used momentarily from the pad or latched by holding the pad for more than three seconds. That makes the Binary Pulsar feel alive under your foot: clean sidechain movement one moment, dirty rhythmic flanging stabs the next.
