This is a wonderful-sounding and -playing instrument, but it has some minor condition issues that are disclosed below… so if you’re looking for the hard-to-find (and no longer produced) Firemist Gold finish and can do some minor fretwork on your own (or have it done by a trusted tech), you can save some cash here. My sales price reflects the flaws.

I bought this 2021 guitar six months ago from a dealer that had never sold it, so it’s “new old stock” with the exception of the roadworn aspects of the finish and some fretwear. The neck also has some “fret sprout” that isn’t painful but will need to be addressed. Again, I’m the guitar’s first owner, so this instrument was purchased new, but after the guitar had been in the shop for over four years. It looks like someone at the Fender factory or a tech at the shop filed too much off from the middle of most of the first through twelfth frets, so the frets will need a crown and level, along with fret end filing to correct the “sprout.” I got quotes from two local techs, one who quoted me $150 and the other who quoted $200.

The original pickguard and backplate are included, but the guitar will ship with the custom pickguard pictured here. 7 or 8 extra small screw holes were drilled to make this handmade pickguard fit, but they do not interfere with the factory holes. If you’d like to use the original pickguard or another Fender pickguard, the extra holes will never show. I just want to make sure I’m disclosing their existence. The original pickguard has a lighter spot on it where there was a Fender factory decal.

Specs for these guitars are widely available online, but some of the highlights include “narrow tall” frets, a 60s C-shaped neck, and a tone control that’s wired to the bridge, Eric Johnson-style. This particular guitar weighs just under 7 pounds, 14 ounces, so it’s comfortable and solid. Before owning this one I’d always been dismissive of Road Worn finishes, thinking them gimmicky. But this looks like a real 1960s guitar, and it’s an acoustically resonant instrument. I added a custom Callaham stainless steel neck plate—a $40 upgrade. It’s currently set up with 10-gauge strings. The truss rod turns freely both ways, and all other electronic and mechanical parts work well, too.

The gig bag is a brand new Fender bag with almost zero wear. I just play at home, so the bag looks new. Any questions? Need additional photos? Please let me know. Insured shipping is $75, but I will refund the buyer if the cost is less. You may also pick this up for free in the Atlanta Metro area.

Pit Bull not included. She's pretty sure that she could be a stunt double for John Wick's dog, though, so let me know if you want an autograph.
