Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a classic older general purpose microphone made by Electro Voice in the 1950's. This is the more expensive variant of the 2nd generation 630 that has the polished chrome housing and looks very nice. It functions perfectly with a strong 100% signal and has a dual impedance setting for either Hi or Low Z. It comes with a standard XLR cable in which to operate.

Pic # 2 shows this very model in an old E.V catalog I have showing the mics basic characteristics. I very rarely get these mics in and it's the first of three I've had to offer in a few years now.

You'll notice right away that this 635 looks identical to the 630 model but the 635 was an upgraded version having the modern XLR cable attachment and the impedance setting where the on / off switch would have been. The impedance switch works perfectly.

The signal strength is 100%. Dirty and void of bass on the Hi Z setting. The output is much lower on the Low Z setting but it will be compatible for any Low Z audio equipment you have.   The 635 will be ideal as a harp mic or for a HAM radio set up. I have sold many of these to auctioneers as they happen to like the 630 and 635 in particular. The 630 mic was typically used for dispatch and broadcasting purposes but was even used for singing for live events. This mic has a very old school "rockabilly" tone. It's an omni-directional mic as well.

The mic housing / head is reminiscent of the jet engines being used by several American and Soviet fighter planes of the 1940's and 50's. The look was very popular but by the 1960's the look was dated and just not as popular as the earlier models were.

This is hardly the prettiest 635 out there. The 70 + year old microphone has typical heavier wear as you can see in pictures. Several scuff marks and scratches here and there with some tiny pitting. The threads for the stand are perfect with zero stripping. The E.V label looks pretty good though and completely legible. Overall this piece is an easy 6 on a scale of 1 - 10. Again, it works like new and will do you justice.

The joint mechanism works fine with plenty of tension. I cleaned the XLR pins on this mic to ensure a perfect signal once a cable is attached.

This mic comes with the short 5 foot cable shown. It's soft, pliable and has the standard male 1/4 inch end connector for use with most audio equipment and all guitar amplifiers. This mic is ready to go.

The mic will also screw onto any desk or floor stand you have.
