Up for grabs is a 1986 Epiphone Riviera in Antique Natural, built at the highly regarded Matsumoku factory in Japan.
These mid 80s Japanese made Epiphones are known for their exceptional build quality and tone, often rivaling many Gibsons from the same period.
This particular Riviera features the factory Stop Bar tailpiece, a rarer configuration for this model, providing excellent sustain and tuning stability while retaining that unmistakable semi hollow character. The Antique Natural finish shows off the beautiful maple grain, giving it a classic, understated look.
All hardware, electronics, finish, and case are original, and it comes with the original hardcase. The guitar plays beautifully, with the clear, open tone Rivieras are celebrated for.
A few things to note about the condition:
- There’s a small mark on the bottom side of the neck around the 2nd fret.
- Another mark on the top side of the neck near the 3rd fret.
- There is some fret wear, as they are the original frets, but it does not affect playability in any way.
(Otherwise in great condition for its age, clean finish, solid hardware, and smooth playability.)
The guitar is available for pickup in Richmond, or I can ship worldwide at the buyer’s expense. Please message me for an accurate shipping quote before purchasing, as listed rates may vary depending on your location.
