■ Yamaha NS-10M Original — Matched Consecutive Serial Pair

(Nippon Gakki Era, Pre-1987)

The legendary white-cone studio reference monitor that defined the sound

of countless hit records from the 1980s onward. This is the original 1978

NS-10M model (NOT the later Studio/Pro version), manufactured by

Nippon Gakki Co., Ltd. in Hamamatsu, Japan — the prestigious original

Yamaha corporate name used before 1987. These early-era units are

increasingly rare on the global market.

■ Why This Pair Matters

Production of the entire NS-10M line ended in 2001 due to the

discontinuation of the special pulp paper used for the woofer cones.

The original NS-10M (pre-1987 Nippon Gakki era) is now increasingly

rare worldwide, especially as a matched consecutive serial pair in this

cosmetic condition. This is a genuine, untouched piece of recording

history — used by legendary engineers including Bob Clearmountain and

found in nearly every major recording studio of its era.
