This is a very rare Fender Strat and is highly collectible. Fender was in a transitional period in 1989-1990. They moved all production to the Corona facility from the Korea factory while the Ensenada factory was being built, The 89 Squire Strats were dated E9xxxxx. However, Fender errored in printing the correct serial labels for the 1990 US Squires. Instead of being printed as N0xxxxx for a 1990 production, they were most likely not editorially proofed and were printed as N9xxxxx. We added a true new Custom Shop case to make this an awesome package. We are displaying the current Fender serial Number report on the Fender web site just to show how disorganized this run really was. It says 1993 build which never happened.

The necks, hardware and bodies were true US parts, and to reduce costs, for most of the run, the electronics were Asian parts. This guitar is all US with the true US Custom Shop Texas Special Pups and Pots as the cloth covered wiring and handwritten dating IDs them very well. And, it sounds and plays amazing. Lots of confusion at that time makes these quite the collector item. The center tone control is push-pull for additional tone variations. There are few hard to see thin lines in the nitro finish which is to be expected with aging. Won't show in pics. Check our reviews for peace of mind.
