This Steinway has lived in our family since 1963, when our mom, a music teacher and pianist, purchased it from its original owner, who was also a pianist and teacher. It has been part of our home ever since.
Built in New York during what is often considered Steinway’s Golden Era, this Model L (5’10½”) offers a balanced, resonant voice with the warmth and character that have made these instruments so enduring.
The piano retains its original mahogany finish, which has developed a natural patina over time. Nothing refinished or overworked, simply well cared for and allowed to age as it should.
Holds an excellent tune. Pads and hammers were serviced, with light string work completed in the 1960s. It continues to play as a strong, stable instrument with a warm, mature tone.
Recently professionally tuned and appraised by a piano technician with more than 50 years of experience. The written appraisal notes tight tuning pins, good strings, excellent case condition, and overall unusually clean condition for its age. Documentation is available for interested buyers.
For serious inquiries, the technician has also offered to speak directly regarding the piano’s condition and performance.
At 5’10½”, it offers a full, balanced voice while still fitting comfortably in a home setting.
A piano that has remained in family for more than 60 years.
