This acoustic guitar was crafted by Bill Collings, who thoroughly researched Martin guitars from their 1930s golden age, known as the "pre-war" era.

In the 2000s, as the industry shifted toward automation and major brands like Martin and Taylor moved to mass production, Collings took a different path. Following Bill’s vision, the team faced each piece of wood individually, tapping the materials to focus entirely on the sound.

With a small group of elite luthiers, they limited production to about 100 guitars a month.

Furthermore, the founder, Bill himself, personally inspected every single guitar before it was shipped.

It is even said that he deliberately kept the workshop's scale identical to that of the pre-war Martin factory.

Today, although monthly production has increased due to the launch of their second brand, it is said that his dedication remains deeply rooted in the workshop, even after Bill Collings passed away in 2017.

This specific guitar, an OM-2H, is a 2010 model with a 5-digit serial number (173XX).

Built during a time when high-quality wood was still abundant, it features premium, hand-selected materials. Combined with the tap-tuning skills of an elite team and a personal sound check by Bill Collings himself, this is a truly exceptional instrument.

Collings is said to design their guitars with their future sound in mind, making them sound tight when new—especially in the lower overtones—so they will open up beautifully decades from now.

Now, 15 years later, playing this guitar reveals a warm, pleasing overtone in the 5th and 6th strings.

In the global market, there are very few acoustic guitars built with such long-term vision, looking decades into the future.

Condition:It is in beautiful condition. Considering its age, it can easily be described as "excellent." The top, sides, and back have only light wiping scratches.

There are a few small dings and scratches on the back, and a tiny ding on the corner of the headstock (please see photos). None of these are major or highly noticeable.

Playability & Technical Condition: The neck is perfectly straight. The truss rod access is located at the block inside the sound hole, and it has plenty of room to adjust in both directions.

There is no fret wear, making this a fantastic deal for the buyer. The action is set to an optimal height using Elixir Custom Light strings: 0.087" (approx. 5.5/64") on the 6th string and 0.063" (approx. 4/64") on the 1st string at the 12th fret.

The combination of its tight sound design and long-scale model, enhanced by the characteristic depth of rosewood and overtones developed over time, creates a beautifully focused and perfectly balanced tone.

It comes with the original hardshell case (showing some light scratches and signs of use) and the original warranty card from that time.
