Bell Minstrel Boucher Banjo - Natural

I can find no fault with this Terry Bell Banjo. The attention to detail is beautiful to experience in this world of throwaway stuff made somewhere else. Russ in the video below plays this exact banjo much better than I can. It does take practice.

The violin style friction pegs work well compared to others that I've tried. This is Bell's Tack Head model. As long as your humidity is not too high, you don't have to be concerned about head tension. My home stays at around 50% humidity.

I've have another Tack Head banjo for 12 years and it never changes. If the humidity goes up you can use a higher bridge to keep the action consistent.

This Fretless synthetic string Bell plays perfect with it's 1/2 inch bridge that came with it. Bridges are readily available and it's fun to try different bridges for tonal variations and to adjust the string width at the bridge. The same can be said for sliding the bridge back and forth on the head to adjust the scale length and the placement on the head, which all effects the tone and playability.

I have it tuned to E. By moving the bridge it's easy to try lower and higher tuning. I'm not sure what type of strings these are, but they are very nice whatever they are.

Of course there's all sorts of synthetic and nylgut strings available as well as genuine gut strings for the adventurous. I am happy with these strings.

I'm only selling because I have three other fretless synthetic string banjos and I am building a mountain banjo. I really enjoy this type of instrument and I bet that you will to.

The case is nice and clean with no bad smells.
