This 1956 Gibson Les Paul Junior (serial number 6 6713) is in good vintage condition. This guitar shows signs of age and extensive play wear throughout including some nicks, dings, scratches, lacquer checking, buckle wear and wear around the peghead from a string winder. In our opinion, this is a righteous looking and sounding, well loved and well played example. This Junior has seen some changes through the years. The tuners have been replaced with a set of double line Klusons from the mid 60s (the D string tuner is slightly bent but functions well) but no extra holes or modifications were made to accommodate these tuners. The original P-90 has been replaced with a 1970s Gibson P-90 with a clear bobbin and a brass bottom plate. The potentiometers date to 1978. The bridge and bridge studs are modern chrome plated replacements. One knob is replaced (the original is cracked but is included) and the output jack plate is replaced with a black metal plate that appears to be the same size as the original so there's no additional screw holes. This Junior has a chunky rounded neck profile with a 1 11/16” nut width. This is a great feeling neck that is not overly chunky or like a “ball bat” but it is also not slim at all. It is very similar to many modern day R9s. The original fret wire on this guitar is in good shape - it definitely shows some wear (see photos) but the guitar plays great up and down the fingerboard with low action and good intonation. The bridge studs are straight and are not leaning and the truss rod is in operating order. This Les Paul sounds absolutely fantastic and delivers a righteous muscular snarl with plenty of mid-range cut and articulation. It also cleans up nicely by rolling off the volume knob. This is a truly remarkable sounding guitar with a truckload of vibe and grit. This old Junior weighs 7lb 11oz and is housed in a late 70s Japanese made case that fits well. We will ship this fine instrument out promptly and securely from our little shop here in Tennessee to your front door!
