1982 Fender Super Champ 18-Watt 1x10 Tube Combo (Paul Rivera Era, 1982–1985) – Exceptional condition with Vintage EV Speaker & Original Footswitch
Description:
Up for sale is a stunning, investment-grade piece of Fender history: an exceptional condition Paul Rivera-era Fender Super Champ. For discerning tone chasers and serious collectors alike, this is arguably the ultimate configuration of one of the finest, most versatile small-format tube amplifiers Fender ever produced.
Cosmetics & Working Condition:
This amplifier is in close to museum-quality, pristine condition. The original black Tolex is free of tears, scuffs, or scrapes, and the classic silver grille cloth is tight and immaculate. The chassis is clean with no pitting or rust, and all original control knobs turn smoothly. It looks, feels, and performs exactly as it did when it rolled off the Fullerton line in the early 1980s.
The Electro-Voice Upgrade:
This specimen features a vintage 10-inch Electro-Voice (EV) speaker. Known for its massive magnet and incredible power handling, the EV speaker elevates this 18-watt powerhouse to another level. It provides immensely clean headroom, an incredibly tight and articulate low-end response, and eliminates unwanted speaker distortion. This allows the pure, organic power of the twin 6V6 power tubes to shine, offering everything from crystalline black panel cleans to cascading, high-gain liquid sustain on the lead channel.
Unmatched Completeness:
What truly separates this amplifier from player-grade units on the market is its completeness. This package includes:
- The Original Fender Dual-Button Footswitch: The notoriously rare, original, red-LED plastic footswitch for switching between the Reverb and Lead channels. It works perfectly.
- Premium Aftermarket Cover: A high-quality slipcover that has kept this amp protected from dust, UV light, and environmental wear for decades.
Specifications:
- Designed by: Paul Rivera (Fullerton, CA)
- Output: 18 Watts
- Power Tubes: Two 6V6
- Preamp Tubes: One 7025, one 12AT7, and one 6C10 triple-triode
- Features: All-tube signal path, genuine onboard analog spring reverb, pull-knob mid-boost, and pull-knob lead channel activation.
Whether you are looking for the ultimate studio tool or a centerpiece for your vintage Fender collection, this Super Champ delivers on every front. I will include a spare NOS 6C10 triple-triode tube at my asking price.
