VERY RARE Botalli Bb Tenor Rothphone that has been fully overhauled.

The Rothphone is an intriguing piece of musical history. An offshoot of the sarrusophone, these are essentially a sarrusophone wrapped like as saxophone. They take a double reed, although single-reed adaptations do exist, and have a unique sound like an oboe or bassoon crossed with a saxophone. very unique!

There are not that many of these around, and they are a unique horn for your arsenal. Fingering is nearly identical to the saxophone - the only substantial difference is that it has three manual octave keys instead of an automatic octave key.

Condition-wise, this instrument is excellent. It has just been recently overhauled and plays well! Bocal is original, plays well in tune at A-440 with a very even scale. Can use a bassoon reed, or experiment with double reeds, originally it would have taken a tenor rothphone reed. also included is a rare single reed bassoon mouthpiece, which can be used with a soprano saxophone or clarinet reed. again, some experimenting can be done to find the right combination for you.

comes in original case, which is in great condition considering age, protects the instrument well, and the latches all work.

the original silver on the instrument is almost entirely instact still! pads are like new. this is ready to be played and experimented with, connect to effects, whatever you can dream. it's a one-of-a-kind instrument, as if Salvador Dali designed a saxophone.
