Personal Thoughts:
The Super 400 CES is one of Gibson’s true statement pieces and always feels special the moment you see one. It sits right at the top of the classic Gibson archtop tree, with that huge body, elegant headstock, split block board and all the visual drama you want from a flagship hollow body. In Tobacco Burst it looks exactly right too, as it suits the carved archtop look brilliantly and gives the guitar that proper old-school jazz box presence. These Historic examples are especially appealing because they still feel very much like serious handmade instruments rather than just luxury showpieces. A very classy Gibson and one of those guitars that carries a lot of weight both visually and historically.
Condition Report:
Clean overall. There is some nitro checking and a few very small impressions present, but nothing excessive. Overall it remains a very tidy and well-kept example.
