The Roland JV-880 is a 1U rack-mount multitimbral synthesizer module released in 1992. It is the rack version of the JV-80 keyboard and served as the direct predecessor to the highly popular JV-1080 and JV-2080 series. It is known for its "beefier" and "darker" sound quality compared to its successors, often favored for early 90s cinematic game soundtracks and orchestral textures.
The JV-880 uses a sample-based (PCM rompler) synthesis engine. [1]
