Hand-wound pickups ready to bring the Texas heat

While just about every Fender fanatic is enamored with the aesthetics of Fender’s golden-age creations, the low-output pickups of the past aren’t ideal for certain guitar styles. The Fender ’63 Telecaster Relic rectifies this issue by loading up this vintage-looking 6-string with a set of hand-wound Blackguard and Twisted Telecaster pickups — a seriously hot-rodded take on your traditional Tele sound. These pickups still sport all the classic Tele hallmarks — round lows, defined highs, and endless twang — but their overwound construction and Alnico V magnets kick out significantly more power and punch in the midrange register, complete with a touch of Stratocaster sparkle for an extensive sonic palette.
