I am offering a Guild D-40 Traditional Antique Burst from 2021, a crafted in Corona, California (USA), all solid timber acoustic guitar model with voluminous dreadnought design, selected Sitka spruce top over a scalloped X-bracing made of Adirondack red spruce, back and sides made of dark-grained African mahogany, set-in walnut-reinforced mahogany neck with “C” neck profile and 43mm bone nut, fine Indian rosewood fingerboard with 5mm mother-of-pearl dot inlays, high-quality Guild USA open gear vintage nickel tuners with butterbean pegs in an antique burst high-gloss nitro finish with tortoise pickguard in excellent condition, including black Guild Humicase luxury hardshell case, certificate of authenticity (C.o.A.) and professional setup with 12-gauge Elixir strings.
This iconic traditional D-40 acoustic guitar classic from Guild is made from the finest materials and comes with an exceptionally tasteful, timeless look. The D-40 was first introduced in 1963 and became one of the most successful and popular dreadnought acoustic guitar models from the traditional American guitar maker. With its large sound volume, harmoniously balanced tone, and incredibly powerful punch, the model quickly gained popularity beyond the bluegrass scene and remains an integral part of the Guild range to this day.
When selecting the top wood, it is immediately apparent that expertise and experience flow directly into Guild's guitar construction. A finely resonant Sitka spruce top provides a bright and powerful sound experience, especially in the mid and high frequencies, with numerous overtones that linger for a long time. Due to its strong vibration behavior, the top, in combination with hand-carved X-bracing, builds up an incomparable dynamic that impressively highlights both classic strumming and picking.
The back and sides made of African mahogany also provide warm, cleanly defined bass tones for three-dimensional tonal depth, allowing the guitar to produce its characteristic voluminous, balanced tone!
A sound sample of the model can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.
The semi-transparent antique burst high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer not only showcases the beautiful woods, but also allows the guitar to “breathe,” conjuring up the ultimate in perfect sound.
In terms of playability, the combination of a classic 651mm scale length, a 43mm bone nut, and a 3-piece mahogany/walnut neck with a medium “C” profile ensures a comfortable and smooth playing experience.
