Early generation Kala U-Bass UBASSFS in all-solid mahogany.

I contacted Kala directly about this instrument and received confirmation by email that these early models from the original production era are considered genuine collector pieces within the U-Bass lineage. This example predates the later active/preamp systems and retains the original Shadow saddle pickup configuration; a design many players specifically seek out for its more natural, upright-like response and which is no longer used in current production models.

Condition is excellent for age and, importantly for early U-Basses:
• Bridge perfectly flat and secure
• Neck straight
• Electronics functioning exactly as intended
• No structural issues
• Only light cosmetic wear from careful use

It has been kept as a personal instrument rather than gigged heavily, and I would genuinely like it to go to someone who appreciates the earlier design rather than just needing a small bass.

I’m not in a rush to sell, this is simply part of reducing instruments while funding other projects, so I’m happy to wait for the right home rather than move it quickly.
