The Mesa/Boogie .50 Caliber is a compact, all-tube 50-watt guitar amplifier head known for its aggressive high-gain tones and professional build quality. Introduced in the 80s, it sits between the Studio 22 and Mark III series, offering a more straightforward control layout while retaining the signature "Boogie" punch.
Key Specifications
The amplifier underwent a significant revision during its production run, moving from EL84 to 6L6 power tubes.
- Power Section: EL84 tubes
- Preamp Tubes: 12AX7 tubes.
- Channels: Two-channel layout (Rhythm and Lead) sharing a common 3-band EQ, with a dedicated Lead Master on the "Plus" version.
- Graphic EQ: The 5-band graphic EQ is a hallmark feature of the "Plus" model, allowing for deep tonal shaping and the famous "V-curve" scooped sound.
- Rear Panel: Features an effects loop (send/return), speaker outputs, and a direct output with level control.
The amp is in overall good shape. Fully functional and sounds really good. Has had regular maintenance and has been cared for. The footswitch input has been upgraded to a toggle switch. Works great!
