Up for sale is a gorgeous Eastman E22SS/V-SB slope-shoulder acoustic guitar in their stunning Antique Varnish Sunburst finish with an upgraded LR Baggs Anthem SL electronic pickup!
I am only selling this one because I just bought my first Lowden F35 and I need to thin the herd. I have owned many high-end, boutique instruments over the years—including Lowdens, premium Taylors, and other top-tier Eastmans—and I can confidently say that this guitar is definitely right up there with the top players at a fraction of the price.
If you are looking for exceptional value, you simply will not find an all-solid-wood guitar with these premium features at this price point from any other respected manufacturer. To get a solid Adirondack top, solid Walnut back and sides, and a hand-rubbed varnish finish from almost any other builder, you would easily be looking at boutique instruments that cost three or four times as much.
The finish is applied much like it is on a classic violin, giving the guitar an incredibly thin, breathable coat that lets the wood resonate freely. This "Antique Varnish" is authentically factory-aged (relic'd) by Eastman's luthiers to look, feel, and sound like a well-loved vintage instrument from the 1930s or 40s right out of the box.
Tonally, the E22SS is a powerhouse. The walnut sits perfectly in the sweet spot between the punchy warmth of mahogany and the bright clarity of maple, while the Adirondack top provides massive headroom, projection, and dynamic range.
Condition:
This guitar is in Very Good condition. It plays flawlessly and the tone is incredibly open. Because it features the factory-distressed Antique Varnish finish, it naturally has intentional checking, wear, and an aged aesthetic straight from the manufacturer. Beyond the factory relicing, there are some very minor cosmetic scratches from normal playwear. I have highlighted these specific scratches clearly in the attached images and video, so please review them closely. There are no structural issues, breaks, or repairs.
