Extremely rare MD-96 dynamic cardioid microphone, produced in the early 1990s by Mikrophon-M — the successor company to the legendary VNIIRPA Popov Institute.

VNIIRPA (1923–1973), officially the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Radio-Broadcasting Reception and Acoustics named after A.S. Popov, was the pinnacle of Soviet microphone engineering — the institute behind legendary tube microphones like the MK-12, MK-13, and MK-14. Mikrophon-M was established in 1991 on the foundation of VNIIRPA's acoustic laboratory, inheriting decades of advanced microphone development expertise.

The MD-96 was engineered for high-profile governmental and institutional use, including venues like the White House and Moscow City Council, and received exceptional acclaim in official settings across CIS countries.
