1985 Mesa/Boogie Mark III Black Dot Simul-Class guitar amplifier head, serial #15669, housed in a hardwood cabinet with a cane/wicker grille. This highly optioned early-production example features Mesa’s Simul-Class power section, factory 5-band graphic EQ and reverb. It retains the early MESA/Boogie Ltd. faceplate with the “Volume 1” designation and dates to Mesa’s transition from the Mark IIC+ into Mark III production.

Of particular note is the Mesa SC152019B Simul-Class output transformer, the transformer type associated with the Mark IIC+ and documented in early Simul-Class Mark III amplifiers. Its Schumacher EIA code dates it to the 25th week of 1984. The remaining Mesa-marked Schumacher components date to 1985 and include a 561100 power transformer, 550381 filter choke and 166-123 reverb transformer. This amplifier is being represented as an authentic Mark III Black Dot with noteworthy IIC+-era transitional hardware, not as a Mark IIC+ or Mark III+.

This amplifier is in used vintage condition with normal cosmetic wear and aging. There are some minor dings and scratches in the hardwood cabinet and wicker grille, along with a few small scratches on the faceplate. The chassis displays normal oxidation, discoloration and scratches, while the knobs, switches and hardware show typical vintage wear. Handwritten factory-era or service markings remain visible on the chassis.

The amplifier was recently serviced by Solderhaus, who repaired the 80Hz graphic EQ slider by replacing its capacitor. The amplifier has received other service during its life, and some electrolytic or filter capacitors appear to have been replaced. Please see the photos for the most accurate representation of its cosmetic condition, internal components and previous service work.
