- Selling a vintage AMS RMX-16 reverb. Fully recapped and serviced.
- Service History & Work Performed
- 1. Thorough Refurbishment (Date: 2025-05-28)
- The unit underwent a complete service due to age and a leaking memory battery.
- The unit was not working properly and the text on the screen was random symbols.
- A tantalum capacitor was also broken and taped to one of the boards.
- CPU board:
- A number of damaged copper tracks, caused by battery leakage, have been repaired.
- Component replacement:
- New battery installed.
- All electrolytic and tantalum capacitors in the entire unit have been replaced (full "recap").
- A couple of IC circuits on the CPU board have been replaced and mounted in sockets for future serviceability.
- 3 Diodes and 2 transistors in the battery charging circuit are replaced.
- Connections:
- All internal ribbon cables have been replaced with new ones.
- Some contacts on the CPU circuit board to the ribbon cables are replaced due to oxidation
- All contacts are cleaned of oxide.
- Maintenance:
- Thorough internal cleaning.
- The display glass has been polished to restore clarity.
- 2. Warranty Action
- The unit was returned under warranty due to a malfunction. Troubleshooting led to the following free actions:
- Replacement of ribbon cables: A pair of the new ribbon cables were replaced to ensure perfect contact.
- Replacement of IC circuit: A faulty IC circuit (74LS00) on a multiplication board was identified and replaced with the correct circuit (74LS05) according to the service schedule.
- Final Result: The unit is now fully functionally tested, stable and operates according to the manufacturer's specifications.
