Selling a very rare, first year 1932 Gibson L7 Archtop. These are much different guitars than the L7’s of the mid to late 30’s and beyond. These 32‘s featured a 16” wide body, which was the same as the famed Lloyd Loar L5’s of the 20’s. You also get the super cool nick Lucas style inlays. This guitar has survived well but not without a couple quirks: The tuners were replaced in the 70’s with era Grover tuners. The original bridge was also glued down long long ago, almost surely to keep the guitars intonation in tune. There is one crack extending from the bottom of the treble side F hole. All other parts are original including the patent tailpiece and the bound pickguard which is rare as they tend to off gas and crumble. Perfect playing guitar with the classic fat V neck which was the norm for this era. There is a fun piece of history in the case; a brochure from a 1930’s club in Pennsylvania from a gig the original owner must’ve played. It is signed by his bandmates including Leon Prima, a famous jazz trumpeter and older brother of famous jazz singer Louis Prima. This is an absolutely stunning instrument in every way and quite the value compared to the very similar L5 from the era. Includes the original hardshell case which is nice condition. Please feel free and message me with any questions. I really hate to let this guitar go as it’s one of my favorites, but something else has come along and its time to move it along. If you’re into rare old jazz boxes, this is one of the coolest around.
