For sale is my original Twin Reverb from 1966. (It was sold to me as a 1964 model, but the transformer and speaker codes indicate 1966, if the internet speaks the truth...) This amp has been used for studio recordings and live gigs by his prior owner. I purchased it in 2019 for home use. I had it serviced regularly, where the capacitors and some plastic parts were replaced, and the amp was retubed. (I kept the original capacitors and plastic parts, will include them in the sale.) All major components (i.e., transformers, Jensen speakers, etc.) are original and the amp is in perfect working order. The reverb tank is not original. My tech added a cable to the vibrato channel to reduce the 'ticking' noise that is standard with the original black panel amps. However, this change can be reversed easily if wanted.

The main components are in great condition. Cosmetically, the amp is more beat up, as the photos show, which is why I don't give it an 'excellent' rating. Specifically the grill cloth has some holes. I was advised not to replace it to keep the vintage vibe.

I own two further Twin Reverbs that are reissues. Compared to this, the original, they sound more sterile (or modern?). By comparison, this one has a particular 'sweetness' to the sound, and is more musical and harmonically rich to my ears. The cleans on the vibrato channel are hard to beat, it has a NOS Raytheon 12AX7 in the V2 position, and a NOS GE 12AX7WA JAN in the V1 position, which I throw in. The amp does not hum. I'm not sure the photos show this, but the speakers serial number is 220645, suggesting to me that the speakers are from 1966, week 45. I trust the transformer numbers are visible on the photos. Happy to send further photos of the old capacitors and some of the plastic parts that were removed, just ask!

The back chassis has a metal plate over a hole that was drilled in the original chassis, and the former owner explained this to me as follows:
"In the mid 80's our tech came up with an idea to fit a master volume and to daisy chain both channels via a foot switch for overdrive, similar to the Mesa Boogie amps we had rented in USA. I was very pleased with this at the time. Later we put in a passive FX loop for a Korg SDD 3000 delay, but I didn't like it and had it removed. These simple changes have all now been reversed. There are chassis cut-outs to the back for the master volume and overdrive foot switch and also the short lived FX loop. There is a discreet plate over the cut out, and a new repro Fender back fascia panel."
