One of a kind Mosrite 6/12 doubleneck in a beautiful red to yellow sunburst. Custom Semie Mosley, Bakersfield era guitar w/ serial numbers and features suggesting a 1966-67 assembly. Those who know Mosrite guitars will tell you that they are all somewhat custom models in that features are not always consistent for guitar to guitar. This is usually called a Joe Maphis Model, however this one does not say Joe Maphis anywhere on it. All the others like this I've seen have neck plates with 4 screws or no plates and 4 screws but this one has no plates and 3 screws for each neck . So this is one of a kind. I haven't seen a sunburst in this color on a Mosrite doubleneck anywhere else either.
The truss rod or truss rod cover on the 12 neck has been repaired/replaced. I'm not sure since it was this way before I bought it. It functions as intended. There are a few screws missing from the pickup covers. It does not affect playability or functionality. There is a slight shim under the 6 string neck for added support and durability. You see this often with vintage instruments as wood is an organic material and changes over time. The fretted A fret on the E string has a buzz. This is the only thing wrong with the frets.
It is in great condition with the kind of wear you would expect on a well taken care of 53 year old axe. There are a couple of extra small screws on the back. One may have been for a strap button
Both necks have nice low action with the low flat frets Mosrite is known for. I put a shim under the 6 string neck to get the action where I wanted it, and it plays great. If you haven't played a Mosrite before, the frets are notoriously low so it takes some getting used to. Great collectors item and very rare!
