The ROSS Distortion brings back one of the most recognizable vintage distortion circuits in a modern, road ready format. Built in Kansas City, Missouri at the JHS Pedals facility, this updated version preserves the feel and character of the original while adding practical improvements for today’s players.

Based on a classic op amp hard clipping design, the ROSS Distortion traces its roots to iconic circuits like the MXR Distortion Plus, DOD 250, ProCo RAT, and BOSS DS-1. It delivers a natural tube like breakup with a responsive feel that works equally well as a standalone distortion or as a boost pushing an amplifier into saturation.

The side mounted mode switch gives access to two different eras of the ROSS circuit:

• Germanium Mode (“Era 2”) for a smoother, softer response
• Silicon Mode (“Era 3”) for a tighter, more aggressive attack

The simple control layout keeps the pedal easy to dial in while covering a wide range of gain textures.

Controls include:

• Level — overall output volume
• Distort — amount of hard clipping distortion
• Germanium / Silicon mode switch

Modern updates over vintage originals include:

• Soft touch bypass switching
• Lower overall noise floor
• Improved reliability and consistency
