Gibson Les Paul Standard 1974 owned by Mike Wanchic

This Gibson Les Paul Standard is part of the private collection of John Mellencamp's guitarist Mike Wanchic & Echo Park Studios.

Like the Les Paul Custom, the Les Paul Standard was replaced with the SG body style at the end of 1960. The original Les Paul and Les Paul Custom were not brought back until 1968.

The personal Les Paul was purchase new by Mike in 1975/75. He has ecorded and toured with this guitar for well over 43 years. Namely, records that this guitar appears on include Nothing Matters and American Fool including all associated world tours. This guitar is Mike’s baby. Let me tell you, this thing is beautiful.

Neck feels great with excellent low action. Body weight is balanced. This guitar has seen so much life and action this absolutely is not without it's cosmetic faults. There are dings on the back (as well as belt rash) and bottom bout of the guitar. The drilled in Bigsby has been removed and is included in the case. Has the original grover tuners. There is a small chip in the headstock.

Currently the pick guard is not attached but is included in the case. Aside from that there is just general players wear from years in the studio and on the road. We have done our best to showcase these cosmetic flaws through the photography of this instrument.
