1981 Yamaha SSC500 MIJ - Natural - Jerry Garcia (Japan) w/ Gig Bag

Up for sale is a killer 1981 MIJ Yamaha SSC500 electric guitar, made popular by Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead, in excellent vintage condition and perfect working order. We just gave it a pro set up with a set of 10-46 gauge strings so it plays amazingly with a straight neck, low action and accurate intonation. The original trio of blade single coil pickups sound incredible and have tons of clarity, spank and bite. Each pickup has its own on/off mini-toggle and theres a push/pull pot on the tone knob that enables you to coil tap the neck and bridge pickups, making this a very versatile guitar.

Cosmetically, this instrument is really clean and have been well taken care of over the years. That said, there’s some mild cosmetic wear such as: a few tiny dings scattered around, swirl marks and light scratches in the clear coat from handling and cleaning, most of which is on the back. The original frets look great still with no real discernible wear to speak of. This axe is clean, mean and on point! See pics for condition.

To the best of our knowledge, this instrument is all original. The tuners function flawlessly but a couple of them are a little harder to turn that the others. It just seems like this guitar wasn’t played much. Comes with a Fender gig bag. The guitar weighs 7lbs 7.0oz. The nut width is 1.70”. The neck thickness is .820” at the 1st fret and .895” at the 12th fret. The scale length is 25.5”.
