so you have not played the S HOOP yet ? i suppose love it or hate it ,. yes it is a slightly different from a standered hoop yet 2 X better more like 200 times better for sum key reasons like have a better chance of - not developing tendentious so the 12 inch drum is putting the rim shot closer to the center of the stick , a standered hoop will chop up your sticks eventually from rim shots , hear i lowered the edge of the rim down and rounded it over a noticeable amount i would prefer this set up a nice bottom ludwig snare side hoop and the top S HOOP on the 8 beefy lugs yes the S HOOP is beefy---er its place is the top,. the edge is lowed rounded over phatted long gated and even creating a bottom ending 2nd rim shot edge were the rim ends and the total is good fat thick long contact point that you can hit at the precise correct angle or slightly or way off just the top of it like a normal rim shot ,, over all it does change the rim shot sound slightly both kinds of rims are mettle and do the same thing like side stick and rim shot ,. the S HOOP is slightly different sounding but its, get use to it, its a advancement in hoop technology current options are regular hoops, die-cast, S-- HOOP or wood hoops ,, and the S HOOP stands out as the easiest most comfy to play ( because its the lowest to the head as well rounded over )( lower is the stick can remain flatter with less of a angle making contact with the rim during the rim shot ) (it is actual science) easy to tune and stay in tune is beefy can take abuse ,. and wont destroy your hands if you wanted to play it hard for a few hours ,. the back beat on this drum set up is fine,, the drum has the stock ludwig heads i also recommend emperor snare side head is 5mill and ebony pinstripe on the top is the thickest head available other then a K-flam head which is like kevlar and the heads collor is to thin and they wont make it in 12'' last i looked ,. that is a specified marching head ,.

all the internal lugs have bin gone over and tightened on all my drums and i also use a little bit of drum diel its needed on especially the vintage drums this is far better then anything or a butchers-wax ,. it seals and protects the edges apply a little bit wipe it in and away and its now good forever keep changing heads and playing as the edges are protected ,,. it will only sound better as she ages,.. and the S-HOOP is a extra ,. you can change hoops heads snare wires and the wire holding methods ,. this ludwig is still maybe really worth 400, 500, bucks ,,

. its on sale hear ,.. !
