I’ve worked with thousands of accordions and only three had handmade twin riveted reeds inside. A custom Giulietti, another Universal, and now this one. Here’s the scoop on this special box:
Universal Accordion Model 45115 DTC
4/5 sets of RARE Handmade Twin Riveted Reeds made by “Bevettato” in LMMH.
41/120 with a super wide 19 3/8” keyboard
10/5 Registers plus a Palm Master Switch and a Grill Mute
Approximate weight is 27 lbs and the old mics are probably not working
The case is in decent condition but the back straps and the bass strap will need to be replaced
This is an incredible accordion that is in good shape but needs some time in the right hands. It plays well ”As-Is” but I would recommend new wax, leathers, tuning, and to go through all of the mechanisms. Normally I would do this work but I no longer have the time for these things. If you want all of these things done, add $3,000 to the final price and give me a month to do it for you. Otherwise, it is working pretty good “As-Is.” This is work that I would recommend for ANY good accordion that is pre-1980. The older the accordion, the more work it needs regardless of how it looks on the outside.
The orginal owner of this accordion bought it here in LA for $1,725 in 1962. Per Google, one dollar in 1962 is equivalent to $9.96 today. That means that he bought this accordion at the equivalent of $17,180 today. This accordion had only one owner and it sat in its case for awhile. With the right care it could be a real beast.
The accordion is being sold “As-Is” with No Reterns, No Exchanges, No Buyers Remorse, No Drama, and No Bologna. This is one of those rare instruments that should hold its value for years to come with the right care. If you have any questions, please ask and I’ll do my best to answer them. And there’s no harm in making a realistic offer on it. I did my training at the late Borsini factory in Castelfidardo Italy so the accordion will be packed properly and shipped out with full insurance within a few days of your payment.
