I bought this banjo back in 1983 I believe, and used it on the road for several years. Been sitting in the closet for a lot of years. It is a great sounding banjo with a lot of volume. There is a very small drill hole on the side of the back where I mounted a small pick up, along with various other minor scratches and nicks on the head where our drummer used brushes keeping time while I played it, as part of the show.
Guessing, but pretty sure this banjo was made in Japan, judging by the name of builder on the label and that’s all I know about it.
