This is a 1960's Harmony H-165 that has been converted to "X" bracing. Some have referred to an all mahogany 000 sized guitar such as this as the guitar Martin never sold. Folk lore has it that there is one 000-17 Martin that was produced that would have fulfilled the 17 series, the 0-17, the 00-17 and perhaps an 000-17 like this one. This one was rebraced using a blueprint that was developed from a 1935 Martin 000-18 by Willi Henkes of B&H Guitars of Germany. It uses sitka spruce braces as the old Martins did as well as a maple bridge plate. They were glued with hot hide glue as well. The guitar was refretted, the neck reset, side dots added, bone nut and saddle with Stewmac Golden age tuners. Action at the 12th fret is about .065" high "E", and .085" on the low "E". It is strung with .012"-.053" light gauge strings. It comes with a original Harmony soft case in very good condition. It has numerous scrapes and bumps from it's 60 years of life. As can be heard in the video, it has a remarkably strong bass with clean, clear trebles--a very sweet voice. Thanks for looking and ask any questions you may have.
