Extremely rare Hoyer "Typ 34" electric bass.
Manufacured in the early sixites (most likely 1962) in West-Germany. This bass was (together with a lookalike guitar) the first ever solid body instruments designed and built by Hoyer.
First purchased in Stuttgart at Musikhaus Barth (see plaque at the backside of the headstock)
The bass is a quite unusual construction (neck attachment, floating pickups, bridge and tailpiece similar the parts from a hollow body instrument). It sounds and plays great! The two single coil pickups deliver an amazing output.
The neck is straight, truss rod works, frets and ebony fretboard are great. The bass is ready to play.
Player friendly weight only 2,9 kg/6,4 lb
After more than 60 years there are of course some clearly visible signs of age and use. Mostly medium to heavy wear on the thin nitro finish (please see photos), but nothing that affects sound, playability or the amazing overall impression.
Very rare opportunity.!To my knowlege, this is the only one offered at the moment and one of the very few that are actually playable.
