Duesenberg Starplayer TV Hollow Vintage Burst

With its fantastic art-deco looks, state-of-the-art design and specifications, it is the Starplayer TV that is the unmistakable centre-piece of the entire Duesenberg collection. Within the Starplayer TV family are many variants with often minor variations on paper, yet in practice result in significant differences. This gives each Starplayer its own distinct character and right to exist.

Nothing could be less true for this -relatively rare- Starplayer TV Hollow; this is by-far the most deviant, outspoken Starplayer in the range. As its title implies, this is the fully hollow version of the otherwise semi-hollow / centre block Starplayer TV. In addition, both pickups are Duesenberg's Domino P90s and the guitar has a classic tailpiece instead of a tremolo. Not only does the tailpiece fit very nicely with the overall classic and traditional design, but the spruce top would collaps under the weight and pressure of a tremolo due to its hollow construction.

The sound is totally different than that of a regular Starplayer TV; much more subtle, "lighter" and airy, where the regular Starplayer TV really is a rock n roll machine. The Starplayer TV Hollow has a crystal clear, almost glassy tone on its neck pickup with a very rich, full-range response. The bridge pickup is nice and snappy and transparent. It's clear that this Starplayer will suit best with a player who plays mostly clean or with a slight edge of overdrive.

And let's not forget to address its stunning looks. Where Duesenberg often chooses for a distinct and outspoken look, the Starplayer TV Hollow is almost conservative but certainly no less sophisticated and stylish. The classic 2-tone sunburst is beautifully complemented by the vintage white pearloid body and neck binding. And check out the beautiful birdseye maple back!
