*POWER CUT….Ludwig’s Melodic Tom offering with a twist….cut the shell to create added projection! Certainly an eye catcher, I always thought it created a good-looking profile! It was a cool idea for the marching percussionist, that also saw some implementation into drum set play.
This 10-lug, 14” drum, marketed using only its head diameter is actually 5 1/2” deep on the Keystone badge side and 12 3/4” deep on the opposite side (drummer’s side), where the white wrap’s seam is present. The aforementioned badge is the larger Keystone badge, and stamped with serial #3180373 and Monroe, NC U.S.A.
All original, except for the used clear Remo Pinstripe head, it’s aluminum ring is intact and serves to protect the exposed bottom edge. The seam on this ring however, is slightly bent/not flush, but it has done its job over the years, and has the scuffs and scars to show for it. The white cortex wrap is tight and shows fairly well, but close inspection reveals scratches, scuffs, and a couple of gouges. The interior shows scratches and scuffs, as well, but the beautiful grain in the wood really gets the most focus! The original mounting brackets for the carrier(vest) are long gone, leaving holes exposed. In all, 4 extra holes are present. I can think of ways to make those go away, however, I’ll let a new home decide what is best.
A fairly rare and uniquely cool addition to an existing kit, where the motto, ‘the more drums the merrier’ is the focus…that’s where I can see this baby winding up, because the ‘Power Cut’ has and will always have its place in Ludwig lore!
Will package and ship with expert care.
