About This Listing

From Gruhn Guitars.com:

9/1/22

We certify the instrument described below is, in our opinion, a Fender Stratocaster American Standard model electric guitar, made circa 1984-1988.

Description: Serial number:  E446077 – The serial number of this instrument could indicate a date of manufacture between 1984 and 1988, but is insufficient to indicate a definitive date because Fender used “E4” prefix serial numbers throughout this period.

Upon examination, we note that this guitar appears cosmetically and structurally to be in fine condition. This instrument conforms to the typical specifications of the model for the period in which it was made with double cutaway alder body with Torino Red finish, multi-ply beveled-edge white plastic pickguard, integral tremolo bridge/tailpiece assembly with six adjustable string saddles three single-coil pickup, three white plastic “skirt-style” control knobs, blade-style five-position pickup selector switch, multi-ply beveled-edge white plastic tremolo cavity cover plate, maple neck with dark walnut center back strip and adjustable truss rod , four-bolt metal neck attachment plate with Micro-Tilt adjustment and die-stamped “Fender” logo, gold-color “Fender Stratocaster” logo peghead decal, individual sealed Fender tuners with metal buttons, two elevated string trees, 22-fret integral maple fingerboard with black dot position inlays and chrome-plated metal hardware.

We were unable to make an in-hand assessment of the frets, truss-rod, pickups, potentiometers, selector switch and wiring harness, but for the purposes of this appraisal we assume them to be correct The instrument is currently housed in a period-correct injection-molded rectangular hard-shell case with black ABS plastic exterior and black plush interior lining.

Current market value: $1,500 (one thousand five hundred dollars)

Product Overview
The first generation of Fender's famed American Standard Stratocaster was introduced in 1986, building upon the success of the company's vintage reissue guitars while offering some modern touches and a wealth of finish options. Upon first glance, these American Standard guitars might just look like any old Strat, but contemporary features like a flatter fingerboard radius, thinner neck profile and a refined, more contemporary tremolo system make these first-wave American Standard Stratocasters the first choice for a plethora of players over 30 years later. Available with both maple and rosewood fretboards, as well alder or ash bodies, these versatile instruments have held value and stood the test of time.
