A spectacularly well preserved closet clean 1965 Fender Stratocaster. This guitar is original down to the case and includes original strap, bridge plate cover and trem arm. This guitar also has a certificate of authentication done in 1995 by George Gruhn of Gruhn Guitars. The neck date reads October 1965 and the CTS pots are from the 10th week of 1965. The grey bottom pick ups are all dated and show lacquer dipped burgundy wire. The frets have definitely been leveled at least once. Although this is a CBS era Stratocaster it retains pre-CBS features like the smaller headstock, transition logo and late 64 pearl dots. The neck plate serial number is L48875 which would indicate the plate was made in 1964, this is never a conclusive way to date Fender guitars as they used up parts, especially neck plates until they were gone. Now how about the sound? I have recently fallen in love with grey bottom pickups as they have a beautiful fuller bottom end with a little aggression and the top end still has the classic Fender sting but with a rounded edge avoiding and ice-pick treble on the bridge pick up.
