Fender Vintage Series '57 Stratocaster Mary Kaye,1989 with transparent White Blonde finish & all Gold Hardware with original Vintage tweed case. This guitar also has the more expensive Ash wood body that comes with the White Blonde finish, giving an incredible amount of sustainability. Built 1987-1989 Serial No. VO30558
Early Corona built reissues are hot right now. Whilst these aren't quite the investment you would get from 1982-1984 period Fullerton vintage reissue, they are next in line and are far superior in build quality then its newer arrivals. They only made 500 with maple fretboards between 1987-1989. These were some of the first guitars made in the Fender Custom Shop. Closet queen very clean. I don't think you can say it is in that mint, as new, straight out of the box, showroom condition because it has aged somewhat whilst sitting in its hard case. hardware like new, single layer pick guard starting to age gracefully. The finish while is immaculate has one or two very minor clearcoat splinters an there is a small chip in the lacquer in the top of the head stock on the edge, and some very light scratches in the lacquer on the back from maybe rubbing up against pants. The "Mary Kaye" reissue was the very first limited edition produced by the newly established custom shop: a total of 1000 guitars were built all with the V serial number of the regular vintage series, of which one half had '57 style maple neck and one half '62 style rosewood boards. This wonderful '57 Reissue Fender Stratocaster is a rare edition made by Fender in the late 80's. It could have been made anytime between 1987 and 1989. I purchased 2/2/1990 from Ct Music in Stamford Ct, so I assume it is an 1989. Regardless of the year of manufacture, this is a rare specimen from a very limited run! There are a very small number of marks worth mentioning look at photos closely as they are small. But overall in excellent condition, With factory plastic still on vibrato cover. This Mary Kaye is in immaculate condition. There is some finish checking that can be seen in the pics. Some slight cracks in the nitro cellulose finish that is very common both in these models and in the vintage originals they're meant to emulate. It has a very thin neck as do all of the 57 reissues. Rare limited run with original box and plastic. All original case candy, vibrato bar and ashtray plate, never mounted. Original owner with tweed strap and original tweed hardshell case. MADE IN USA. Ask me any questions that you feel necessary. Contact Jim for more information at 203-253-4666.
