The Gibson L-48 was produced from 1946 into the late 1960's. This particular one being a 1956 Sunburst model features a single-bound body with mahogany top and sides, and maple back. Dot-inlaid rosewood fingerboard, rosewood adjustable bridge, simple nickel-plated trapeze tailpiece, original tuning pegs and original Gibson logo in the headstock. No repairs, no issues, just a laminate chip on the back side that can be seen on the pictures. I should mention that a strap button on the back side is missing, but can be easily be replaced with anyother ones out there.
A surprisingly great sounding jazzbox, this L-48 has a depth of tone and a character you'd not expect of a laminate-topped Gibson. It has a smokey, and somewhat throaty mid-range with nice punch, well-developed basses, and well-dimensioned trebles. Round neck, 1-11/16" nut, 24.9" scale. Set-up in shop with acoustic light-gauge strings. Plays and sounds awesome! Makes for a great long term investment as well.
